Taxes
Are my donations tax deductible?
Yes. All donations are tax deductible.
I did not receive my tax receipt. Who can I contact?
Each year in mid-February we send tax receipts to all our donors who made a donation to Brava the year before.
If you did not receive this receipt, please send a short message to spenden@brava-ngo.ch or contact our donations service under the phone number 031 311 38 79.
Data protection
Will Brava pass on my address to third parties?
No, we don’t give your address to other organisations. We use your personal data only as part of our activities to achieve our social mission. We strictly adhere to all legal requirements regarding data protection.
Are online donations safe?
Yes. Our payments are made through a payment system that conforms to the highest security standards. It may take between 2 and 20 days for online donations to be credited to our account.
Other ways of donating
Can I organise a fundraising event for Brava?
A fundraising event is a fun and interesting option for you to support us and make our work known around the globe. We thank you very much for your endeavours in our name. Can I make my donation in honour or in memory of someone?
It is possible to make a donation in memory of someone or at particular events such as retirements, birthdays or weddings. You can find further information here.
Zewo
Why is Brava not certified under Zewo?
We are considering a certification under Zewo. To this end, we have converted our accounting to the prescribed Swiss GAAP FER 21 standard. But several other requirements need to be fulfilled. For example, at the moment we do not have enough committee members. You can find an overview of our finances in our annual report and the full annual financial statement.
Private donors
How can I make a monthly donation?
With a monthly donation you support our activities in the long-term. It is very easy for you. The donation will be charged directly to your credit/debit card on a monthly basis in the amount of your choice or transmitted via Direct Debit or Standing Order.
You can order a monthly donation online, at the post office or bank or via telephone. You can find further information under Become a private donor.
How can I terminate my private donor contract?
In order to stop your payments, please write a short message to spenden@brava-ng.ch or contact our private donor service on 031 311 38 79.
Why can my monthly donation not be attributed to a certain project?
Because our projects are of limited duration, your donation cannot be attributed to a certain project. It will be used where it is most needed.
I would like to change my payment information for my monthly donation. What do I have to do?
If your monthly donation is charged to your credit/debit card or sent by direct debit or standing order, please contact us on 031 311 38 79, or by email at spenden@brava-ngo.ch.
I would like to change my monthly donation via credit card. What do I have to do?
If you want to change the amount of your regular donation, the frequency, your payment method or if you want to end your regular donation, please contact our private donor service by email at spenden@brava-ngo.ch or on 031 311 38 79.
How do I know that my monthly donation via credit card has been registered?
If you have donated online, you will receive a confirmation email from us. This will confirm your donation, the amount and the frequency of the payments.
Bequest
I would like to bequest something to Brava in my will. What information should be included in the will?
You only need to write “Brava, formerly Terre des Femmes Schweiz”. It is not necessary to mention our address or account number.
Can I also bequest valuables or real estate?
Yes, it is possible. Brava will ensure that the inherited items are expertly appraised and disposed of at a fair price.

Financial transparency
How is Brava financed?
Brava is to 100% dependent on external donations. Brava is mainly financed by private donations: In 2022 83% of the income came from private donations, the other 13% were generated by contributions of foundations or income from projects. How much does Brava spend on fundraising?
We do our best to use the largest possible amount from the donations to fulfil our social mission. You may find further information on our cost distribution in our annual report.
What fundraising measures do you use?
In order to come into contact with the Swiss population and to raise the necessary funds for our projects we use different methods:
Post (personally addressed letters and general mailings)

Direct dialogue on the streets (face-to-face)
Door-to-door fundraising
Online activities
Furthermore, we receive bequests and inheritances as well as financial support from foundations, cantons and municipalities.
How can I give you my new address after moving?
In order to tell us your new address you can write a short message to spenden@brava-ngo.ch or contact our donations service on 031 311 38 79.
Can I decide how often I will receive mail by Brava?
Yes. You can choose how often you wish to receive mail from us. Tell us your preference when you make a donation or write an email to spenden@brava-ngo.ch stating your name, your address and how often you would like to hear from us.
